10211494Stories I Only Tell My Friends  by Rob Lowe
My review: My book club chose this book and I would never have picked on my own. What a treat! I couldn’t wait to dive into Rob Lowe’s fascinating life each night. Written by him as well – I super enjoyed his voice. He knows how to peak your interest with each scene and end on a perfect note wrapping up the goodie of info he just tossed you. It’s like curling up with the insider view of how he fell in with the hottest of Hollywood in the 70s-80s by growing up with them in his backyard from banging around as teens shooting 8mm movies with the Sheen’s. 180648The Virgin of Small Plains by Nancy Pickard
My Review:
This is a powerhouse of a book. It held me in a grip. Pickard is a master at dropping just the right tid bits along the way for you to sit up and ask: “OMG, what did that character just say?” “OMG, how is he connected too?” “OMG, I cant believe that just happened!” and you rush back to read it again to keep that shocking feeling going. 7157310Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry
My Review:
Jonathan Maberry creates undaunted heroes for a new era that you will champion for out loud in the first book of this edgy, dark new YA series. The story and characters stay with you long after you close the cover. It’s a book not about zombies but about love, survival, and redemption. Maberry shines light across a ravaged land 15 years after a zombie epidemic, a world that teenage Benny Imura grows up in. READ MORE…

16735The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy
My Review:
Pat Conroy is a master at lyrical prose that digs deep without letting go. At times it takes him awhile to get around and about but the path along the way is the reward. Its to be savored – and passages read again. This book was beautiful and horrifying at the same time. Tragic and yet there is hope.
Conroy creates characters of such depth – that we totally understand and can empathize with even the most wretched of characters such as the father. READ MORE…

40440The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
My Review:
This is a beautiful book that will pull you in to the intricate details of its character’s lives that are sad, tragic, and mysterious. It weaves multiple story lines and time frames in a seamless tale that delivers a poetic punch as secrets are revealed and twists have you wondering just how things will finally be resolves. 32424Lightning by Dean Koontz
My Review:
This is one of my favorite Dean Koontz books. I was drawn into the MC right away and her tormented savior. I read in one sitting. A book you want to keep turning the page. Some parts drift off in too much detail, scientific dialogue but its necessary for the premise to work. READ MORE...
