Thank you for your great giveaway chance Donna. The book sounds very intriguing. Thanks.
Thanks Carol! Good luck winning a copy ๐
I don’t really read scary books, I prefer creepy like Coraline, Neverwhere (Neil Gaiman), The Replacement (Brenna Yovanoff), Invisible Monsters (Chuck Palahniuk)…
I don’t read scary much either since having my son. I am now a scaredy-cat. ha ha
Ooooh, a TERRIFIC giveaway. (Terrorific?)
Thanks and I like that – terrorific!
I loved Stephen Kings it and misery. Both very scary
ooh, I agree with that one!!
I don’t read scary books because they’ll keep me up at night.
I can see that! ๐
Stephen King books. Any of them. I enjoyed Thinner a lot.
That book was creepy for sure. I love King’s short stories and novellas best.
Scariest book I ever read was Divergent.
WOW! I havent read it but didnt know it was scary!
not sure but i loved tommy-knockers
ooh, a scary one! King makes you think that these kinds of things can happen right in your backyard ๐
I don’t really read very scary books often but I love the ghost stories books that are for the different counties in West Virginia!! Thanks for the great giveaway!! ๐
oh, love regional ghost stories! we have those here in Pennsylvania too ๐
Scariest book I ever read was “Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Stories that scared Even Me.” Anthology of short stories and they were super scary to me as a kid!!!!
Oh, cool. Now I have to check this out as never heard of it.
It was definitely The Shining! Freaked me out!
Yikes! Right there with you ๐
I read Grimm’s Fairy Tales when I was 10. Far scarier than Stephen King, IMO. Funny how the librarian kicked a fit about King but was excited to see me with Grimm’s giant tome. XD
Ha ha! I have an old edition of Grimm’s myself. Yup, scary!
Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill!
MISERY by Stephen King.
Probably Neil Gaiman or Stephen King, but I don’t read too many scary stories.
the shining
I love scary books. I think the scariest I’ve read was In Cold Blood
by Truman Capote. Granted, not a horror novel, but I was young when I read it and it really freaked me out.
I have heard that this is chilling indeed.
The scariest book I ever read was The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson.
I love Shirley Jackson but have not read this. Will check out!
I haven’t read too many scary books, probably In a Dark Dark Woods
ooh, another one for my TBR list!
The Exorcist — years ago — was the scariest book I ever read!
Never read! Only saw the movie.
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. Thereโs nothing more fearful than the unknown and the book is full of unknown, unexplained horrors. Itโs weird layout and endless footnotes make it one of the most atmospheric horror books out there. The book is a maze, a frightening enigmaโฆa dark door to a dreadful world.
oh wow! Must put on my TBR list then ๐
I haven’t read many horror books, but I once read Possessed by Kate Cann
I havent heard of this one. Will check out!
It by Stephen King
seems to be a fave!
I have read a lot of scary stories, but I can’t think of the one that stands out the most. Thanks so much for the great giveaway, Donna
Thanks for stopping by Sherry! Good luck with the giveaway ๐
The Shining
A good one indeed!
I’ve read tons of scary books, so to choose just one is very hard. But, I remember when I was quite young I read Salem’s Lot and was up all night.
When I watched The Shining the twins really scared and creeped me out. I read the book first and it was scary enough, but I didn’t realize watching the movie would scare me worse!!!
Stephen King’s It really scared me.
I think everyone!!
Anything by R.L. Stine.
Thanks for the chance to win!
My son loved him! I met him at ThrillerFest in NYC when I was a debut author. Very nice man. Did you know he types all of his books with one finger? One finger! No lie ๐
The scariest book I’ve read was a bit unintentional. I was in third grade and picked up a choose your own adventure type book. I’d never read one before, so I just started reading it straight through, page by page. It was so confusing and all these strange and scary things were happening in such a confused way! Later I found out why lol ๐ It wasn’t as scary when I read it properly ๐
That is so funny!
When I was younger I used to read a series literally called Scary Stories to tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz, the covers are just creepy, they are short scary stories with pictures that can give you nightmares.
Never heard of this series! Thanks ๐
World War Z. I know, I know. It wasn’t the zombies that were scary. It was the whole breakdown of civilization and all that.
That is terrifying. I agree!
The last scary book I read was years ago by Stephen King. Pet Cemetery. I’m not a huge fan of scary. I love paranormal romance and mystery intertwined, like Darynda Jones Charlet Davidson series. Thank you so much for the giveaway ๐
Pet Cemetery was really frightening for sure! I haven’t read the Charlet Davidson series but will check out. IF you like paranormal romance and mystery, you might like my Element Trilogy books. It’s paranormal, suspense, and romance on the dark side :). I like to say it’s Dean Koontz with a dash of steam. ha ha! And speaking of Dean Koontz (my fave ever author!) I am interviewing him on the radio on Authors on the Air with Global Radio Network in an hour and a half interview on Nov. 20, the day before his new release, The Whispering Room. Nervous and excited! https://www.authorsontheair.com/
I love The Shining by Stephen King.
Me too! Well, I’m a big King fan anyways
Well, I started reading The Amityville Horror from my parent’s bookshelf when I was 7, and it gave me nightmares night after night until my parents removed the book from our house. So it probably scared me more than any other books! But as an adult, the book that creeped me out the most is probably The Red Tree, by Caitlin Kiernan.
Though the non-fiction Parasite Rex by Carl Zimmer gave me nightmares, but I have a fear of bugs in my body. Different kind of scared.
The movie Amityville Horror terrified me as a kid (with James Brolin) so the book would be scary too! And I agree about the bugs thing ๐
Asylum is pretty scary!!Thank you!!
ooh, havent read that one!
IT by Stephen King. I rarely read scary books ๐
I agree with this choice! ๐

I’ve never really been scared by a book.

LOTR does have darkness in it yes! And Schindler’s List is scary horrible, I agree ๐
The scariest book I have ever read was The Exorcist. I have read it again since then and it just didn’t do it for me. Oh well. Thanks for the chance to win.
Happy Halloween to you and everyone else.
I havent read the book but curious to know how it compares to the movie! Happy Halloween!
The scariest book I’ve ever read is probably Trigger Warning by Neil Gaiman. I don’t read much horror books, I never really gravitated towards them but I’m trying to read more genres this year.

Scary because it could really happen, right??
Silence of the Lambs, and the sequels written by Thomas Harris.
Creepy! I never read the sequels … dont know if I could!
I don’t wanna sound to generic but I really thought Harry Potter had it’s moments. Some of the concepts were very dark.
I agree! Harry Potter got much darker as the series unfolded.
I have a very low threshold for scary so I’ll have to say I haven’t read any. Thanks for the giveaway!
The scariest book I’ve read is The Hot Zone by Richard Preston.
Probably the first time I ever read Stephen King’s Cujo when I was young
The Wide Game by Michael west
The scariest book that I’ve read is The Shining by Stephen King.
I thought The Women in the Walls by Amy Lukavics was very creepy.
I’ve read a lot of scary books and it’s hard to choose just one but Phantoms by Dean Koontz and It by Stephen King are up there on the scary scale.
