A to Z: K is for Kibosh & Krispy Kreme vs. Dunkin Donuts

By Donna Galanti

Part of the Blogging A to Z Challenge. I’m blogging every day in April, except Sundays, thematically from A to Z.  Find out more here.

Today is a two-for-one! As of today the kibosh has been put on my Get Human Again Giveaway. And I am thrilled to announce the winner chosen by Random.org: Jessica Cooper!  Jessica wins all this: A Human Element in Paperback, $50 Spa Finder Gift Certificate, Box of Lush Godiva Chocolates*, and a $100 Gift Certificate at ILoveInns! I hope you have a fabulous time getting away, being pampered, and reading A Human Element! Thank you all for participating!

Now on to one of my favorite indulgences. Donuts. A greasy puff of heavenly delight. I can’t eat just one. Which is why I never eat them! There is a debate going on about which is better. Krispy Kreme or Dunkin’ montauk-monster.com/pharmacy/klonopin Donuts. Raised in the Northeast, I am a Dunkin’ Donut gal all the way, but my Kentucky relatives argue that point (this leads to another debate of White Castle but we’ll go there another time).

Krispy Kreme’s signature item is their glazed donut served warm, originating from a 1930s recipe when the company was formed. Dunkin’ pharmacy-no-rx.net/celexa_generic.html Donuts was created in the 1950s with more of their sales coming from coffee then donuts. And just why is it that a cup of Dunkin’ Donut coffee can never be duplicated at home?

Deal breaker: Krispy Kreme, light and airy. Dunkin’ Donuts, a heavy chunk of love. Give me heavy!

My last meal on Earth would have to be a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, followed by all the donuts I could eat! I’ll take a box of Entenmann’s chocolate donuts if nothing else. Just don’t expect any to be left. The best Fall treat is fresh baked apple cider donuts served hot. Crave them too? The #1 place to get this is Indian Ladder Farms, in Altamont, New York.

Fred always knew it was time to make the donuts

It’s been awhile since I’ve been in Dunkin’ Donuts. When I do walk by one in the Mall I breathe deep of rich fried goodness. Then I walk on.

America may be running on Dunkin’ but I remember when it was time to make the donuts. Do you run on Dunkin’ or Krispy Kreme?

    Donna,
As issues go, this one can be quite “weighty” (ahem). I’m so glad you took this highly controversial subject on! 🙂 I am with you all the way, it’s Dunkin’ Donuts or nothing.

First, the coffee is heads above all others (sorry Wawa people – that’s another blog). Have you ever heard of someone going to Krispy Kreme just for the coffee? I think not. Combine the fabulous java with an unbeatable selection of donuts and you have heaven on earth. And, even though the DD coffee is not quite the same when you make it at home, at least it saves me from facing the tempting treats and irresistible smells of DD.

    Thanks for the fun topic!!
    Teri

I never had WaWa coffee. I do miss Cumberland Farms coffee, that was a WaWa kind of store in Upstate NY. I so know about the DD coffee not being the same at home! I want to know how they can get it to taste the same at every single DD store. Wouldn’t different water change the flavor? Important things to know! Thanks for stopping, Teri!

Nooooooo! It has to be Krispy Kremes for me or nothing at all. Delicious morsels of sugary air – giving you the impression that you can eat loads. I’m feeling hungry now – of to grab some cake and coffee 🙂

OK, I’ll allow the Krispy Kreme craving. Now go, gorge 🙂

I typically lean towards DD because of the coffee for me and the donut holes for my kids. Sorry, KK. 🙁

Krispy Kreme for me. You only have to bite it and it melts all over the inside of your mouth and… Yeah, Krisp Kreme.
